Hello,

I'm running Goldmine 6.5 on our network. Our server is Windows Server 2008 and we have a variety of desktop operating systems. All network is within building i.e. no remote usage. Desktops have local connection file, desktops run either Vista, Windows 7 or XP. We run the exe file in XP compatibility mode if on Vista or W7.

When a user enters notes in the pending call, then attempts to complete the call back and schedule follow up call, it freezes AND ALL other 8 users are frozen out too. Task manager is needed to re login.

The main issue seems to be caused by one Windows7 user, though we have other W7 uses with no issues. We have a suspicion that its something to do with Windows security settings as the desktops that "work" have more permission settings, but its not working on the W7 desktop. It works fine for me on Vista, so I think its a Windows setting that needs looking at, but which one?

I am running out of ideas. Has anyone had this problem before?

Goldmine as a CRM has been excellent for years and I really don't want to upgrade to Premium, but this is something that I can't fix or work out.

Thanks,

Mark

If you have one person logged on scheduling / completing, it seems to work fine. If you have server users trying to work at the same time it starts freezing.

Have you been Purging your TLogs on a regular basis?
Have you been doing Maintenance regularly against your database?

Revert that Windows 7 OS back to XP or Vista or upgrade to GoldMine Premium.

Hi DJ Hunt,

Tlogs? what on earth are they. This sounds promising. Where can I find them, purge them?

Maintenance yes at the moment every day.

GM Premium is scheduled to go in in June, so I need to patch up this edition until then.

Thanks

Ok TLogs being purged now, 90 days and beyond 150,000 and counting...

still same issue afterwards. When I complete call back.

Planning upgrade to PE.
Do you think Windows XP Compatibly mode for the local GM exe will have same effect running on W7?

Its a whole lot easier than reinstalling an new OS.

To be painfully honest the XP Compatibilty mode offers only a slight improvement over the Windows 7 environment. You might try a Terminal Services connection to the Server, and having that Workstation run GoldMine via Terminal Services.

Hi DJ,

I've run it through TS and its the same symptoms.

I'm bringing in an expert as I think I'm giving up. If he manages to fettle it then I'll let you know what he did, thanks for your advice.

We are running Goldmine 6.00.21021 on two PCs. One is running XP SP3 and the other is Vista. The GM database is stored on a 3rd PC running Win7. We believe that since the Vista PC has joined the group that it has been corrupting and loosing customers, contact details, emails etc... Could the Vista PC be the possible cause?

Can anyone please shed some light on this problem?
