i'm still a relative newbie to the IT Feild (6 years paid now). I've worked in support roles for all 6 years and i think that now i'm going to go for the MCDST.

any thoughts as if if this increases my marketability, or should I focus somewhere else?

being MCP is always better than not being mcp, IMHO.

the support certifs though, i have no idea what their market value is...

i know being mcp & mcsa w2k helped me get my current job....

I have never been really high on them, but the computer field isn't really strong where i'm at, so i'm just trying to make my resume stick out a little more.

an honourable cause if ever there was one....

my biggest reason for certification too, along with the fun of it!!! (a bit like the dentist, till it pops up "pass" at the end!!)

Marketabiliy is what certification is all about..

With 6 yrs support under your belt, you may want to go for something more challenging. Like the MCSA or MCSE.
These certs would at least show that you are wanting to move from a support to administrative positons. As far as dollar value, hmmmph...
