Ok, this is probably a very simeple question but I cant figure it out for the life of me. I have 4.0 and VM pro on a IP500. I want the incoming group (1) to go directly to a VM module. When I put VM:xxxx in the destination spot it makes the # look like a bad # and will not go through. When I put the hunt group extension in there it rings just fine. Also, what would the VM settings be in the manager?

I searched and searched the forums thinking this question would have been asked before but I didnt see anything. I wanted to research as much as I could before posting but this one has me stumped.

if you want it to go to a module you put it in like VM:modulename

That is exactly what I did. That is where it is confusing. I used the VM:(module name)and it just shows a dead line. I verified the spelling and made sure it was all caps. I am doing this in the "incoming call route" on the extension tab I have the "VM:module name" filled out. It just dumps the call. Is there any other setting that needs to be changed?

What happens when you do *17 is VM actually up?

Where are you making the programming module in short codes or modules?
What is your module doing? Do you know it works? Ie its not doing a straight forward to a dead ext or any thing silly like that?

Thanks
Lee

It give the generic "welcome to ip office" enter extension #.

Ok fine so your using your VM in intuity mode. This shows that VM is up and running then.

So what about the other bits I mentioned RichRich?

In the incoming route tab I have it pointing to vm:ase (ase is my module in vm pro) now if it makes a difference I do not have anything in my specific start points (users groups) default start points or anything in that area. I thought that if I had vm:ase in the destination it would point directly to the ase module. If I point it to vm:ase I get the telco operator (if youd like to make a call please hang up) and I get disconnected. There has to be something that I am missing or leaving out. Isnt it a direct connection from in incoming call route to the voice mail module? Or is there something that has to be done in between?

it should be VM:Modulename. Are you sure the module is working properly. Try making a shot code like

*80
VM Collect
"Modulename"

See if the mod works that way

Try setting up a shortcode to test your module internally.
Feature: Voicemail collect
Tel number: "ase" (use the quotations marks)

When I do that it brings me directly to the ip office manager and asks to setup password. It doesnt bring me to the (ase) module??? I have the destination as VM:xxx (where xxx is my module name) it just seems like it will not point to the vm module.

i have that problem too
i can't help you because i don't know what i did/do wrong

Sorry kwing, for giving the same advice. I can only type at a slow pace.

You have been making the changes to the module while in online mode and then saving and making live I take it, not doing it while in offline mode and just saving the data locally!! I made that mistake once, you probably haven't but worth asking!!

If you create a shortcode that goes to the module does it work? If so put the shortcode in the destination field and see if that works.

Yes I have been making live. There isnt a need to change much in the vm pro side since that is already setup it seems like the problem is in the manager side. Is there anything I have to do on vm like collect, leave or will it point directly to the module?

Sorry ronromano, I just got your post. If I create a shortcode to the module it brings me to the "welcome to ip office please enter your password" it doesnt bring me to the module that I setup.

Did you create your module in the Start Point window (top left) or the Module window (bottom left)?
It needs to be created in the module window.

I created it in the module window (bottom left) I have it 3 letters (ASE) all caps and in the destination line I have it VM:ASE exactly.

Just try rebooting the VM services.

Its interesting you have created a shortcode but to me it sounds like you are just being thrown in to the VM from end. rather than it following a voicemail module/shortcode.
