Hi, everybody. I'm very new to Red Hat Linux. And I tried to install it (ver 10, Fedora Core 3) on my laptop with a WIN2000pro on it. I use Partition Magic to create 2 primary partitions so i can install Red Hat on the other. Though I have successfully installed the Linux, the problem is, I cannot boot to my Windows 200 pro anymore? Even if I set the primary partition active to Win2K, it always boot to Linux. Though painful to me, I had to delete Linux using FDISK hoping to boot to Win2K successfully. Then the scarriest thing happened: I get the ff error when I boot:
GNU GRUN version 0.95 (637K lower / 193472K upper memory)
[Minimal BASH-like line editing is supported. FOr the first word, TAB lists possible command completions. Anywhere else
TAB lists the possible completions of a device/filename.]
grub>
Thinking that it had messed up my Master Boot Record, I had no recourse but to format my entire harddrive even though it meant losing all my data. But to my horror, the same above message appears again. Judging by the message, the lower memory seemed to have infected by something mysterious. Now I remember that I did not create a /swap partition during the installation (I tried to but it wouldn't allow me so I skipped it). So this must be it. Since there was no /swap partition in the harddisk, Linux used the computer's RAM. Now I'm stuck! COuld somebody tell me how to flush the remaining data off the RAM? I was hoping to try my hands at Linux but I'm beginning to give it a second thought. Please tell me that this could be fixed coz I don't want to hate Linux.
Thanks in advance
