I have been using Linux for several years, but just made the jump tp using a Linux based workstation. Everything seems to work grate, but I have a question concerning the GNOME desktop.
I have figured out how to create a shortcut and place it in the panel and then drag that shortcut to the desktop. Is there a way to create the shortcut directly on the desktop without having to create it in the panel first?
For example, I have installed Mozilla, and I dragged the startup script, Mozilla, to the desktop. However, GNOME recognized this as a script and opens it using gedit. But, if I create the shortcut in the panel first and then drag it to the desktop, everything works fine.
Thanks in advance for your assistance.
