can someone post the gmail settings that they use when you set up the ip office settings in control panel.

im not sure what to put here. i have a active gmail account, but i cant send voicemail via email.

thanks

I am also looking for a way to use voicemail to email using an external host.

these are the settings for outlook...

1.In your email client software, under Outgoing mail, set the SMTP server to smtp.gmail.com.

2.Set the your username is yourgooglemailname@gmail.com and make sure "Use username and password" is checked.

3.Also check off "TLS" under "Use secure connection.

i can get my email using outlook. that is working fine.

i need to know what to put in the email setup/programming in the control panel under ip office.

what do i put in the "user name" and "email settings"(mail server) and port number. do i also have to setup the authentication part?

I usually use the windows SMTP when doing Gmail and Yahoo.

like kwing said.

set up a local smtp server in an XP workstation running IIS - and configure up a virtual SMTP server on it.

then you have a bit more of a chance getting your IPO / VM Pro to send your emails out on.

using gmail as an external relay would be almost impossible to configure for vm pro.

a QUICK google search uncovered this:

Gmail requires SMTP authentication, looking at the client settings you must set a client to log on with a username (full email address) and password. The IP Office has the fields provided for this. I haven't tested it out myself though.

yes i do. i am in the boston area.

Also you need to use the correct server and port. All my mail clients accessing Gmail accounts are using secure SMTP on port 465. Assuming the IPO doesn't do SMTPS then you would need to find out from Google if their system can do unsecured because I have never seen instructions for this.

The other thing i have done because it was easy and free when i had issues with Gmail was to just get a yahoo mail account for free and then set the windows SMTP to use that.
