I have reinstalled the Outlook integration link from our original disk multiple times and although it works fine when sending emails from Goldmine, and GM contacts are available in Outlook, but the other direction is no good. Message linking is not working and the toolbar only includes the launch icon... none of the linking capabilities. I have checked off the appropriate link boxes in the GM tab in outlook.... ???

Ideas on what I am missing?

It doesn't matter whether you're using dBase, MSSQL or whatever else. GoldMine communicates with it's data via the BDE.

So, I'll suggest it again, Check the SHAREDMEMLOCATION setting in your BDE. Make it 4000 and see how things go.

Of course, if you'd rather NOT get the problem fixed...

Goner,

Sorry - I was replying to the link message previous to yours. I realized I had not specified what I was running in the original message.

I am waiting for my IT guy to get back from vacation before I try your fix. I want him around in case I do something bad by accident. Unfortunately I am one of those who only knows enough to be dangerous. :) thanks!

Not that it matters... they have misplaced the servier with Goldmine on it sometime between last night and this morning so I either way I have to wait!

Not to offend anyone, but that's shockingly bad IT management. I'd suggest that you contact a GoldMine consultant (hey, like me!) to remote in and attempt to fix your situation. If you spend a couple hundred dollars, I think it'll be worth it and easily justifiable -- especially with a down system and IT out of town. Just think how comparatively ineffectual the sales department (and whoever else uses GoldMine) is right now and add the price the company paid for the SQL version of GoldMine 400-500 per seat (plus yearly maintenance). To have the server with such an integral (and expensive) investment offline until the IT guy gets back from Vegas (or ?) seems ludicrous to me.

Goner,

Turns out it was just a bad cable, but I am pretty sure I am the only one who noticed it was down. I did go look at the bdeini and the sharedmem is set at 4097.

As far as lost time and our investment in GM, right now the whole thing is essentially wasted money as we have purchased and then re-upped with frontrange and several years later we still have a non-functional product.

If I could get what we have working, maybe I could justify moving forward with it, right?

Well, if you need some help getting your current installation revamped and updated and your users re-trained and reinvigorated... Let me know! I've been working with GoldMine since 1997 and have helped to blow the dust off of many GoldMine installations and break folks of their Outlook/Exchange habits... ;)
