GM 5.5 and Exchange 5.5

We have GM 5.50, and an in-house Exchange 5.5 server. GM email has never been setup correctly. When I open the Email Center, and send an email to a valid internet address, it appears sent from GM. In my Outlook, I get a message back from the Exchange server "The following recipient(s) could not be reached:
(John Doe etc ...) The recipient name is not recognized". I can resend the message from Outlook, and it is delivered.

I'm assuming you are planning to turn off the Exchange Server completely now that you have Goldmine?

The simplest solution is to use your mail host (might be your ISP) for e-mail mailboxes and outgoing mail services, since GoldMine is just a standard POP3/SMTP e-mail program.

Personally, I'm using a simple FreeBSD setup which has user accounts and will also provide an outgoing server for e-mail.

But it is probably possible to keep the Exchange server for outgoing mail but you have to know how to configure it to handle relaying properly. I'm sure it's not too difficult.

But since I'm familar with UNIX I just installed FreeBSD on a spare machine and it became the outgoing mail server.

We solved it. The solution was changing the Internet preferences in Goldmine to point to our ISPs mail server (mail.swb.net) instead of our internal Exchange server.
I haven't seen this solution metntioned anywhere, and I hope it will be helpful.
