I recently installed a second connection to my ISP on a separate subnet. I put two 2621's using GLBP outside our PIX 515e. So the default route on the PIX points to the GLBP ip address. The load-balancing method is round-robin but every host goes out the same router. I believe this is due to the PIX grabbing ahold of the MAC address since the ARP timeout is set to 4 hours.

Is this a correct assumption? If so, what options do I have other than lowering the ARP timeout on the PIX?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Mike.

You're correct. You can set the arp timeout to 5 mins. It's good enough.

Since the major concept of GLBP is to use 1 VIP and multiple VMAC, I really can't think of other solutions other than changing the arp timeout on PIX.

Thanks for your help. It is much appreciated!!!!

Mike.
