i found the exchange working in GLA area and cannot take backup though please advice what should i do to make exchange work from PDS area. and tell me whether GLA area is created automatically. we use v3 system with dual processors.

Hi,
The GLA (Golden Load Area) is Area J of the hard disk.
If the system does a reload and the Area E does not work then it will try Area J (GLA)
If they do not work it will try and load from Compact Flash or Magneto Optical (CF or MO)

To backup to the Area J:
EXE-UPDAT:BP,ALL;
EXE-UPDAT:A1,ALL;
COPY-DDRSM:A1,1,E,1,J,N;

To Automate a backup to Area J:
ADD-CRON:1,P,0,2,*,*,*,"EXE-UPDAT:BP,ALL;";
ADD-CRON:2,P,10,2,*,*,*,"EXE-UPDAT:A1,ALL;";
ADD-CRON:3,P,20,2,*,*,0,"COPY-DDRSM:A1,1,E,1,J,N;";

If the system has re-loaded from Area J:
Try first to activate the other areas of the hard disk:
ACT-DSSM:A1,1;
If you see other areas going active then it may have worked but you then need to reload to get it to work from Area E
Alternatively you can make up a new hard disk using any backups you have (REGENs)
You could chance reloading it to see if it will load from Area E but if it is a system in production I would not chance it.

To See what Area is being used for startup:
DIS-DDSM;
