Gigabit on Cat5e?

I've read that to get a gigabit speeds on yout network you need Cat6 cabling. is this true?

No,on a properly installed and tested cat5e it should work fine. Biggest difference is it uses all 4 pair not just 2.
 
1000Base-T =cat5e
1000base-T & 1000Base-TX = cat6

As i've never used Gigabit before, whats the difference and benefits of 1000base-T compared to 1000Base-TX ?
