I'm thinking of installing a gigabit NIC on a 4.11 box. Any issues i should be aware of? Any special configurations to get it going? All help appreciated.
We have a couple of Gigabit Nics in our Netware 5.1 Servers and have had no problems. Just do your normal Post upgrade checks and it should be fine.ie Checking you CRC errors or bad packets.
NetWare should do just fine. I'd be more concerned about your hardware not being able to handle it. If you're running 4.11, is it safe to say your hardware is older too? I'd make sure your PCI bus is capable of supporting whatever gig ethernet card you're planning on using.
We thought about upgrading to gigabit too after we installed new Pentium 4 workstations running Windows 2000. All of the network adapter cards I looked at required at least Netware 4.2. We run 4.11 with service pack 8a installed. It runs so well I didn't want to take a chance. I did find cards running 100mbs which have the drivers I need.
