We have deployed 1603 & 1608. We use the switch of 16xx to network the PC as well. Now since our complete Network is on GIG and the 16xx switch is FE, we are compromising on speed. Any suggestion for the solution..!??

Don't use the port on the phone itself.
the 1600 series are know about there bad speed put through.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Kind of pathetic FE has been around for 20+ years, Gig 10+ years and yet FE is still installed in modern day hardware. We went with 9611's because of this but we also got partner pricing so it wasn't so bad.

The 9608 has a gigabit version too now.
The 16xx are cheap phone so do not expect gigabit for those ever.

A 10/100 phone will work perfectly fine on a 10/100/1000 port. Only if you are plugging a 10/100/1000 PC into that port and expect to have GigE throughput will there be an issue.

If that is the case, then you have three options:
- run another ethernet jack to the location and plug the PC into it
- purchase a GigE 4-port switch, plug it into the local jack, and plug your phone and PC separately into it.
- upgrade to a GigE phone (such as 9608G and 9611G). You have not indicated the release of IP Office you are running on. There are minimium-release restrictions for the use of these two models.

Thanks gwebster..

In fact we all IP Phones running on PoE, so putting a 4 ports GigE might not serve the purpose. The best way I suppose is to upgrade to 9608G as suggested by tlpeter. Thanks guys...

The very best would be to pull separate cabels for telco and change to IP 9608.

That way you have no computer issues when rebooting a phone, it's way easier to troubleshoot, and the phones are amazing compared to 16xx.

Kind regards

Gunnar
