i have a windows server running IIS that wont let the client's browser cache the jpg/gif images. nor can the client save the gif and jpgs as ".gif" or ".jpg" from their browser. they can be only saved as .bmp. im pretty sure its a server side problem not client side. anyone know which settings affect this in IIS?

here is the serever's response to a HEAD command which seems normal

200 OK
Connection: close
Date: Thu, 17 Jul 2003 08:09:49 GMT
Server: Microsoft-IIS/5.0
Content-Type: text/html
Client-Date: Thu, 17 Jul 2003 08:26:50 GMT
Client-Peer: 61.158.x.99:80
Client-Response-Num: 1
X-Powered-By: PHP/4.3.1

Is it an externally available webserver? If so, post the name so I can test saving a .gif and .jpg.

By the way, using Netscape it will let you save it as jpg OR bmp - only Internet Explorer is forcing it to be bmp.

thanks. but the problem is: my clients and i have tried and we are able to save those images in their original format in all other websites. its just the pages hosted on this paticular server that has the problem. so it must be server side instead of client side.

What are the NTFS permissions on the vod.jpg and search.gif files? What are the NTFS permissions on the images directory?
