Hey All,

We have an elevator phone that keeps ghost ringing our 911 call center. It's a hotline that is wired into an elevator push button emergency line. It will ring once or twice an then drop. The strange thing is that it happens around the same time every morning. The contractor cannot come back out to look at his equipment until March, but I would like to check everything up to that equipment. The number is running off of a G650. Any suggestions?

Jason

in ASA on the sta page 1 is the "Test" field set to yes or no ? If it is set to yes try setting to N. I am just taking a stab at it I am not sure on this one

Try list usage extension xxxx and find out where else it is showing up in your system ?

Maybe a disp errors and look to see if any error are being sent out related to that ext

I did try to change the Test to N last week and I would have swore that was the issue, but I have received 2 emails saying that the issue still exists.

It is a pots line from our s8710. (2500)

I checked the error page and the number doesn't show up, which is good I guess. The number is not being used anywhere else.

Is there any where else I can change the background testing? I swear that must be it.

Thanks for the help. This may not even be my problem. My demark is up to the elevator equipment. I just want to do everything I can before the elevator technician comes out.

Thanks Joe, I'll give that a try. I have to go to another building to get to it, but I'll let you know if it worked.

For ghost calls on a POTS line I have had to either have the LEC test the line and clear the issue all the way to having to replace the line itself. If you are able to switch to another POTS, try that and see if it helps.

Assuming the phone dials correctly when you manually test it, the phantom ring is probably caused by the phone itself and will likely need to be replaced. Most of the push-button phones run off the line voltage and are programmed to dial a number when they go off-hook. It could be a short in the wire from the elevator closet to the phone that causes the phone to sense an off-hook and start to dial but I bet the problem is internal to the phone.

ya but that does not explain the fact that it does this the same time each day, so something else is going on maybe a test run by the elevator company
