Not sure if anyone has tried this before so I will explain.
A client of mine produces sound mixing consoles. Inside some of these consoles they use a 2.5" 512Mb Flash Drive (solid state). Due to some 'muppet' recently scrubbing the master image copy the test manager asked me if I could arrange for the ghost image to be stored on CD and transferred by ghost from the CD to the Flash Drive.
The image stored is a stripped down version of ME along with some console software which boots up the console engine on system bootup followed by Win ME.
Now, and here is the interesting bit....
I set up the image, connected the flash drive and ran ghost. The image transferred to the drive but when the drive was inserted into a console the monitor displays one of two messages...
1. Missing Operating System
Or
2. The dreaded flashing cursor just happily flashes away.
I tried a few other methods but to no avail so I went on to try the following...
Xcopy (with all required switches)
Xcopy32 (again with switches)
Acronis (a backup/restore software program which images the drive)
The same result kept on happening apart from 1 single occasion where the drive started to boot the console engine up but it stopped on Windows ME bootup saying it couldn't find the registry file and couldn't access high memory.
I have tried everything I can think of hence the reason I'm here!
Has anyone tried to Ghost a 2.5" Flash Drive from an image and if so were they successful?
If No-One has... Can anyone give me some ideas as to what the problem could be?
I have a feeling the problem is with Windows ME as the image will work when using Ghost from the Master Drive which the image is created from but the test manager is determined it be run from a CD to prevent the master copy from being trashed again.
Many Thanks for any pointers.
Mike
