Hi,
What is ghost cleanup? Can it be stopped? Approx. 10am for the past 2-3 days it has been running and locking the DB so none of the connected users can retrieve data. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.
Ghost Cleanup is the removal of pages that have been marked for deletion. When a record is deleted, it is marked with a bit, and is no longer "available". In other words, it becomes a ghost record. The Ghost Cleanup process comes along, and physically removes the records, so the space can be reused. Did this happen after a particularly large delete or update?
yelworcm,
We added a larger HD and moved the DB to it. Eversince then, Ghost Clean has been showing up. It never showed up (atleast did'nt lock any users) before.
