I have an 8410D phone that will ring, very intermittent, and nobody will be on the other end. It may happen a half dozen times a week. This is not a phone that is used regularly, so when it does ring it gets answered.....and nobody there sometimes. Any thoughts on to why this happening?

I have had that happen 2 times, one time was the codecs of our old Siemens phone system did not play nicely with our new avaya system, and the other time it was a reversed polarity that did not agree much either with the system.

I read something close on-line about my G3V12 Definity needing a patch?? I also discovered that the incoming problematic call shows "Priority" in the window of the 8410D phone. THIs lead me to find some reading on-line that a patch has to be installed? I am not sure of this as I do not have any other stations experiencing problems. An intermittent call comes in, says Priority in the window and nothing on the other end. Happens MAYBE a few times a week...maybe.

A few ideas:
Wakeup calls (sta sta XXXX), check "Awaken At"

ACA (list aca... anything set to ACA On=Y?) or "displ sys fea", page 1 -- is Automatic Circuit Assurance (ACA) Enabled? y? Is there a referral extension?

When these phantom calls arrive, does the phone display show anything?

Thank you for responding back randy.
Here goes:
Awaken at has nothing there, which makes sense\not applicable since hospitality status are all not activated.
attached are results of list aca. NOt really sure what i should be investigating here and what i should read out of those parameters that are 'y'. Flexpath, Flexpath In and Nashua tie (my Nashua trunk tie in) are all 'y'. The Flexpath I am unsure of what that pertains to.

results of display sys feature shows 'n' for aca enabled = so it is turned off.
When the calls come in, they i do not believe they show anything in the window.

Hmmm -- if sys fea shows that ACA is off I'd imagine that ACA isn't where these calls are coming from.

I'm stumped but I'll keep this in my mind today and see if anything else pops up.

I am being told that at times, this 8410D phone shows '202' in the window when a ghost call comes in. The ONLY thing i have not changed or moved or whatever......is the physical wiring.

Do "cha trunk 2" and turn off ACA. Then check to see if the phantom calls go away. I've got a feeling its related to ACA (or at least related to TG02 since the TAC for it is 202).

Well, turned off ACA on trunk 2. This did not resolve the problems of a ghost call still coming in, but it the ghost calls no longer display 202 in the window of the phone. So, i guess we are making progress??
This forum is a great venue for contact of those down in the trenches getting work done, but nobody to pass the buck to! This is driving me crazy....anybody with any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.

You mentioned it is happening half dozen times a week and that it is not a phone that is used regularly,so what if you bridged the ext with the issue to your phone. When you see a call come in with "202" on the bridged appearance answer it and do a list trace sta . This might give you some more info to work with. You might have to temporarily turn back on the ACA since you said that with it off you no longer get the 202 display.

I have turned ACA back on for trunk 2. I want to see if this ACA is definitely linked to the "202" showing in window. ddog6601, I understand what you are saying, but if I see the call come into my phone (bridged 202), how can I trace it, if it is already in? I will just see the disconnect and nothing for the underlying....correct?

Does anyone think the root cause of this may be a cross wiring somewhere? Maybe a short in wiring (phone cabling in building)?

You will see the bridged call come in on your phone.
You will then run a List trace on the Bridged ext (not your own)
Go off hook and then select the ringing bridged appearance to answer.
( In the example below 5573 would be the extension with the issue, X-5586 being the Primary ext )
You should get something similar to this:

list trace station 5573 Page 1

LIST TRACE

time data

08:39:50 TRACE STARTED 04/03/2015 CM Release String cold-02.0.823.0-21388

what i have tried to do...to chase down the ghost calls.
The problematic station, receiving the sporadic ghost calls, is station 8111.
I did a brdg-app Btn:1 Ext:8111 on the 4th button on the 3rd page on my station 8360.

I called station 8111, from another phone and watched my X8360 window. It showed the call going to station 8111, listing the station and the name it was coming from.
I also had a list trace station 8111 going, and it reflected the name and station that was calling into station 8111.

Now, when I see on my phone window, a call going to station X8111. It will hopefully list the number and naming calling in. I will also jump on the PBX and do a list trace sta 8111 --> this may show more detail for that call coming in.

Will post my findings next time I encounter a ghost call and try to track it.

Report back from user is that ghost calls still being received at X8111. I did not see anything show or pass thru my phone! ANY IDEAS HERE!!??

Set up a PC or a laptop that you can run a list trace on 24x7. Run a list trace on the station geting the calls and see if you can catch it there.

X-8111 does it have a bridged appearance on it and maybe the user just thinks it is coming in on x-8111 ? The call did not show up on your phones call log either ?

I am aware of the list trace station command. But, it times out after a while. How do you establish the trace to go for a long period of time?

I got a call come in on my phone X8360, and showed as the user at X8111....so, the bridged app. is working!
I ran a trace on the problem station 8111 (that is receiving the ghost calls), and got below.

List trace station 8111

15:23:18 Calling party trunk-group 2 member 36 cid 0x146
15:23:18 Calling Number & Name NO-CPNumber NO-CPName
15:23:18 active station 8360 cid 0x146
15:23:34 idle trunk-group 2 member 36 cid 0x146

I picked up the phone, and nobody there.....but, after a few seconds, sounded like it was dialing (beeps) and then went dead air....window showing nothing too.

This seems like a random dialing situation coming in?

I was hoping on line 2 ( 15:23:18 Calling Number & Name NO-CPNumber NO-CPName ) you might have captured the name and number calling but at least you have the trunk group and member. Next time a ghost call comes in note if it is on the exact same trunk group/member again or a different one ?
Also, do you have any way to view calls in and out of your switch ? At my old place we had Telephony Manager, you would enter an ext and dates and we could see every call that came in or out per station then we switched to a third party vendor that could provide call to/from detail on specific extensions as well.
