POTNOODLEBOY,
I see your point when considering the new IP500 hardware as a solution for your customers. It might be best to shy away from hardware which requires software which is untested in the field. Hopefully with the new Maint release the IP500 will actually be ready for market now. I would stick with the new maint release, and not move from it until you are going to another maint release. You can stick with the old hardware until the maint releases are out if you choose to.
IPGURU,
I see the point of your second statement about sticking to maint releases.
The first statement has me a bit confused though. If your concern is, as it should be, your customer, your customer service, your customers experience with your companies attention to their goals, needs, communications stability/performance, and with your companies, and your personal performance in regard to the services you provide, WHY IN THE HELL DO YOU CARE IF THE NEW FEATURE GA GETS ITS ISSUES DISCOVERED AT ALL?
It seems to me that that should be Avayas concern not anyone elses, and the bugs would get worked out sooner, and probably in the pre-releases phase if we stopped implementing when it is not of the quality we consider appropriate for our customers, and our bottom line. That does require that we push the sales force implementation of the new feature sets into the sales pitch by about one release cycle date, waiting to sell the maint release not the new feature release.
Also IPGURU, I know you are concerned with your implements performance, and this is not a concern about that in your case, but you did raise the point, so I addressed it to you. We as techs can test things on our own systems, not customers to find the issues.
In regard to the release of new software, the most encouraging thing I have seen so far is that the releases have been delayed from original scheduled dates. That shows something other than the date is the priority. These are just my opinions, and what do I know, I am just another of 1021 technical people in this forum so I am just offering my opinion, not figuring I know it all. I do know that I will not put in a new release GA without stating my lack of confidence in it to the customer, after that, and a surcharge for that releases expense effect, it is the customers problem if they choose to ignore my warning.
