Hi,

I have my access point on the second floor of my house with a Dell GX 110 system. I am using a indoor Yagi antenna supposedly 16 dbi connected to a Engenius Wireless Lan USB adapter model EUB-362 EXT. The output of the 362 goes to a
external 7-port USB adapter and the output of the 7-port adapter goes into my 2.0 USB adapter card. My system is a DELL GX110 Intel system with 5122 mb ram. My signal strength is around 14-17 dbi sensitivity. It is working perfectly in
Windows XP.

1. How can get this signal down to my basement so I can use it on my Intel computer system ? Ubuntu live cd boots on my
Intel system in my basement.

2. Does anyone know of a replacement motherboard that isn't using jmicron hard disk controller that will work in the DELL? I want to experiment with Ubuntu but the live cd dislikes the controller and locks up.

3. Has anyone been able to get the live cd Ubuntu to work as is on the Dell GX 110 ?

Thanks

Arthur

A Yagi antenna is (always?) very directional. If you have it pointed horizontally or in another direction you will probably have a very weak signal. Try pointing it down toward the basement.
If that doesn't work by itself, get a second yagi, point them toward each other, and hook the basement yagi to a range extender such as Belkin F5D7132 (you may not need the second yagi for this!)gr

Greif1,

My present yagi is pointed towards my window and I pick up a signal. If I point it down, I won't be getting any signal. Could you please explain to me what you mean ? My present setup is on the second floor but in the front of my house. My basement is two floors down in the back of my building and my basement is a little below the ground so I imagine I would need I might need several antennas and range extender to get the signal down.
