I'm running Windows XP Pro w/Service Pack 3 installed. Using the onboard sound drivers (SoundMax). My desktop speakers work just fine. The problem is when I turn off the desktop speakers and plug in the USB Logitech headphones with microphone. When I do a test sound, I can hear the ping but I can't get any music to play off the net or from Windows Media Player.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
jb

I think that I wasn't clear in my post, let me explain further.

My speakers are plugged into the green earphone jack on the backplane of the mother board.

I never listen to CD's right from the drive, I would RIP them onto my hard drive and use Media Player.

My headphones are a USB type connector with an integrated microphone.

Here's what I hope to be able to do; turn off my desktop speakers and plug in my USB headphones and be able to listen using the headphones.

I listen to stuff via the net or from my hard drive only.

I hope that this explains thing a little better, sorry about that.

Your Logitech USB headphones uses its own sound system, separate from your soundcard. So, the issue is that whatever you aren't hearing is not sending the audio signal to your Logitech "sound card." To change that, go to

Control Panel -> Sounds and Audio Devices -> (Sounds and Audio Devices again, if you have to) -> Audio Tab -> check for the devices listed for each setting. Each can be different.... do the same for the Voice tab.
