getting subform to open in add mode

Hello Everyone,

I am on a project of creating a project of candy orders for a mock store. I have three tables: Customers, Candy and Orders and related as they should be

I have a form to open for NEW Candy Orders and have the Customer information there which is filled in based upond the customer ID Number I choose from a dropdown.

I also have the Order Table as a subform on this new order form, but when I choose a customer as I stated above it shows that particular customers previous orders. Is There a way I can have it show blank for new orders. I have tried a macro and add mode but it doesn't seem to work with subforms.

Will gladly compensate anyone willing to assist me in this project as I continue on with it.

I would try set the record source query of the subform to not return any records. Then only the blank new record should display.

Thank you for your response. Excuse my ignorance as that sounds like a very simple thing to do. But how do you prevent a query from returning any results?

I just set a bogus criteria. It works, but is that the appropriate way?
