Banner ads have finally gone so far as to be so annoying that they are actually sickning and VERY distracting. The shaking ads that fast click is putting out has finally gone beyond tasteful.

Any suggestions on getting rid of them?

Thanks

Michael

I use adaware. What I want is to not even have the shaker ad appear on the website. Can adaware plus or profesional do this now? I am not looking for a cookie scrubber but a way that I can physically block the ads that are imbeded into a website. I know it kills popups but before I buy I need a better description of its features than LavasoftUSA gives.

Thanks

faq608-3482 may help :)

bear in my mind adaware doesn't always find all the malware; sometimes it pays to run 2 anti-malware programs (Spybot's pretty good).

Writing a custom host file will allow you to block ads from specified ad servers.
The info's in the faq, as is some other useful links to popup blocking software, etc.

Good luck!

Maybe you should try out "The Proxomitron" (download from proxomitron.org). It's a small freeware app acting as a fake local Proxy between client and server. Very configurable, you can filter pop-ups and banners, set javascript policies, block annoying applets and set bypass for trusted sites via a simple GUI.
Best: no need to install it, just copy it to program files and paste a shortcut in your startup folder. Then set browser to use localhost as proxy adress via port 8080. That's all.
I enjoy a clean browser window since I use it.

Thomasius
