here is the facts:

Was running be 7.3....fulls running every day...was working fine...then one day out of the blue started getting prompted "please insert overwriteable media" alert...in the middle of the back up job. If I do a manual job...it runs fine and completes....tells me hardware is working fine.

Decided to upgrade to BE 8.6. Getting same error message....Seems to back up about 3-5 gig...then gives the above error and kicks out the tape... I even moved all to scratched media...tried renaming tapes....looked on veritas website....followed there white papers....

To sum up....seems to back up for 3-5 gig and then for no reason stops...gives the above message and kicks the DDS3 tape out...

Wow...am I frustrated...thanks in advance...

I've also recieved such a prompt and relized that the tape had already reached it's capacity. Is your tape full perhaps?

Make sure in your job definition you have it set to overwrite the media rather than append.
