Hey, I have a Nikon CoolPix 775 digital camera...is there a way I can take pictures of a tv screen besides just pointing the camera at it and taking a pic? It came with a cable which lets me hook the camera up to the tv, but then the tv only shows what the camera sees, I want it the other way...I want the camera to show what the tv has on it, so that I can take pictures of it....thanks :)

Not unless ur camera has an A/V INPUT

Your using an A/V output port to transmit images from your camera to the tv. You need it the other way around. I'm not aware of any digital cams that offer this besides high-end digital camcorders. U might find one tho', never know

If you use a WinTV card from Hauppauge ( you can view any type of "normal" television/video programs on your pc. I think they run around $100.

Once you have the card operating, you can use screen captures to get the picture you want in a digital format.

This method should be a lot cheaper than buying a new camera, and should yield some decent results.

DON'T GET THE CARD FROM HAUPPAGE. I used to sell those at a local retailer and we used to make fun of the poor suckers that bought those after they left. We knew they'd be back the next day to exchange it for something that worked.

My experience with the Hauppage cards has been nothing but good. I used to work at a University with 250 multimedia stations that utilized the cards without failed for more than 2 years before I left. This is only my advice and experience, and I would like to hear about specific problems that the users had with the cards.
