recently we are having alot virus and worm attacks, especially our VPN and Exchange servers, I know this is a silly question, but we have firewall and update the mail, file system anti virus software, how come these still flood in ?

thanks
J

Remember that a VPN is a tunnel. All network services are available to the other end hosts. VPN by itself does not filter traffic that travels through it. It is supposed that both ends are confident networks.

If a virus is capable to enter one of the ends, it will be possible to propagate to the other end. So, you must check antivirus updates in both ends.

If you need filter services, finish the VPN just before the firewall.

I hope this help.

Check to see that your AV tool scans outgoing emails before they are sent. This is an important step to help ensure that the credibility of a sending source remains very reliable at all times.

Norton AV does this procedure, for example.
