Hello,

I hope someone can help me out. A few years ago, I managed to get all the distribution lists to appear at the top, when you click 'To' button in outlook, I used an exclamation mark, but for the life of me, I cant remember how I did it. I know I did it all on Exchange itself, Outlook didnt come into it. I am using Exchange 2003 SP2.

Would somebody be able to point me in the right direction?

Thanks for any help,
Regards,
D.

Rename with an underscore/exclaimation mark at the start of the DL name?

(Assuming that you can in fact rename a DL, I have never had the need to :) )

Hello,

Thanks for getting back, I tried that but nothing changed. Which suprised me.

After you rename it, where are you looking at the GAL? The GAL only gets rebuilt once a day. It's not automatically rebuilt when you make changes.

What happens when you go into the GAL and use the PREVIEW feature?

Hello,

Again, thanks for taking the time to get back. It brings up a big list of everybody that is on exchange including groups etc. The dist groups have the exclamation marks at the beginning of the names. Should I have the exclamation marks on both ends?

Hello,

No, they are just dotted about in alphabetical order.

We use a / at the beginning of the Display Name of all DLs, and they certainly do all get listed at the top of the GAL.

Hello,

Thanks for replying, do you do that on the actual name of the group or on the alias?

D.
