Hello,

Is there a method of getting the current homepage using javascript?

Thanks
Andy

You might have to be a bit more specific. What exactly are you trying to achieve?

Thanks for the quick reply. I would like to be able to have a button on a webpage that would determine the users browser info including the homepage and display it on the page. I have found the commands for most of the browser options but not the current homepage settings. I was thinking it was getHomePage & then setting that to a variable I would write back to the document. I have not been able to find the correct usage, if any of the getHomePage command in Javascript.

Thanks again for any assistance.

Andy

I do not understand the security risk. It seems more risky to allow setting of the homepage.

Any suggestions on how to accomplish this in IE?

Thanks
Andy

I do not understand the security risk

Let me enlighten you...

A user may, for example, have their homepage set to log into their web mail via URL a that includes their logon details, for example:

[ignore][/ignore]

If any program could read the homepage setting, they'll instantly have access to those details.

Personally, I'd call that a security risk. Wouldn't you?

Point taken.

Isn't there a command to read the URL history list (maybe I saw it as navigating the list, not reading it)?

Well, thanks for the help. I guess it is back to the drawing board.
