I use windows NT 4 workstation and want to map a drive on my NT Server.
I use windows explorer (Tools - Map network drive) and the command prompt (net use * \\server\drive$ /user:user password). The error message number 1219 appears. something about a conflict with existing reference-setting (hard to translate from swedish:) )

Can anyone help me?

Are you logging on to the NT domain from the same workstation? If no - have you mapped any other drives to the same NT Server before?

The error 1219 is related to the situation when you log on to the same server twice, but using different case for password - say - PASSWORD and password. Check that situation, as well as whether you have CAPS LOCK key on.

FYI: The English version of the error:

System error 1219 has occurred. The credentials supplied conflict with an existing set of credentials.

Regards!

yes, I´m logging on to the domain from the same machine. When i log out and use a different user to log in the mapping works without problem. I haven´t recieved any problems when mapping through the loginscript either. mapping up other drives on other servers works fine.
The server is a domain controller (BDC) if that has anything to do with it.
Since I have other drives mapped against the server, I thought you gave me the solution to my worries.
I tried disconnecting my existing mappings on the server (home directories and more) and then remap c$ and d$ but without success.
If you're able to map the SAME drives while logged on as another user, it really boils down to the user authentication. Check if there are two identical user IDs on NT Server you're mapping to, check if your domain login password has upper case lettering and you're trying lower case to map the drives and vice versa.

As a last resort you might want to delete the user from NT Server User Manager for Domains and recreate from scratch.

Regards!

We/I don´t have identical user ID:s, BUT... We do have a Novell Server in the network and a novell client (NDS) on the BDC (since user manager and NT administration as a whole are extremely slow and disfunctional).
My account are also on the Novell machine. Do you think that has anything to do with it?

I´ve tried changing my password to uppercase and lower several times and it doesn´t help. Maybe I should just start from scratch as you said. That is probably the easiest way to do it. the clock is 15:52 right now and I´m off at 16:00 so this will be a project for monday morning.
thanks for your help "Voland"
