Get line to grow along a path (motion guide?)

How do I get a line to grow along an arbitary path or a motion guide in Flash 5.

It's easier for me to just draw the line out and have a mask reveal it..Gives the appearance of a drawing line..

Thought of that but wanted to know if there was any way of getting the line to deform along a path... it would be more realistic.

You could do it by duplicating a 1px*1px movie clip then it could be made to draw any shape at all Regards
