hello everyone,

this is probably very simple issue, but I can't resolve it.

I have powered on my ASA 5510 firewall. power, status and active LEDs are green , permanently.

the problem is that I can't get into command line !!!

I tryed to connect to console over serial port, with Putty, but it doesn't work. here are the parameters of my conncection :

serial line COM3 , speed 9600 , data bits 8 , stop bits 1, parity none , flow control none.

Putty opens a black window, but i can't type anything, and that window is opened on the same way even if I disconnect serial cable !!!

I also tryed to connect over management port , and ports from switch, but still without results.

do you have an idea how to get into my firewall ???

Flow control RTS/CTS is what I have and it works fine. Are you sure it's the right COM port?

From the management port, it's a tcp/ip connection. You need to telent/http/ssh to it.

I managed to connect to asa via management port, but now it requires username and password. I tryed to reset it, with reset button, but it's not working.

how can I reset my firewall ?

I'd its new, a combination of
Cisco / blank
Cisco / Cisco
Pix / blank
Pix / Cisco

I'd you need a reset because its used, there is a process.

I solved this , the problem was wrong serial cable.
