Get error dragging attachment to desktop

If I try to drag a file from Notes onto the desktop I get a dialog "Error occurred while copying the file"

This happens with any type of file, but it works fine when dragging in the other direction (from the desktop into an email). The folder protections are all ok and it works if I right-click the file and do a "Save..." to the desktop.

Any ideas? I'm using 7.0.3

We are running 6.5 and I have never been able to drag an attachment from an email to the desktop but always the other way around.

It works using 7.0.3 under XP. But it doesn't if I use 7.0.3 on W2K.
