Is it difficult to determine your question. Is this a SourceSafe issue or a FoxPro issue?

Can you explain what "checkout file box" is?

If you want to get the best response to a question, please check out FAQ184-2483 first.

VFP's integration with VSS is done through, and dependent on, the project manager.

Thank you for post Mike Gagnon and danfreeman
Yes,The integration is done thr project manager.
as you guys know if i want to modify a file first i need check out right? which can b done by right clicking on a file in project manager or pressing modify button which actually brings up check out file box.

i am wondering if there is any way thr command..something
like..

modi comm ex.prg checkout ...

becoz to load project manager its taking lot of time and is not even easy to locate a file u want.as u know if we know name of the file(program, form whatever )we can simply type it in command window to open it.but it does not open checkout file box, does it?
thank u veru much

cheers

While there is no syntax like you are suggesting, you could automate it. There is a lot of VSS / VFP automation information in Ted Roche's book "Essential Sourcesafe" - He does talk about more than VFP - like all of Visual Studio and Office, but since he's a FoxPro guy, for once it's from the "right" perspective! :)

Thanks Rick.
I'll look at it

You might try this. Assuming that your SourceSafe is installed in i:\vss, you can check it out programmatically.
! i:\vss\win32\ss CheckOut $\RIGHTSMAX\prg\buildno.prg
Good luck.

thanks for the post dgfletcher

i tried like following

! \\programming\vssdatabase\srcsafe Checkout $\VIP8\vip\external.prg

it did not give any error but did not check out the file.
