Hi all.
I installed Vista on a seperate partition from the DVD. After trying and not being able to find any connection to the internet, I decided to give it up and delete the install from XP.
All I need to know is how to get rid of the windows (Vista) choices at the boot screen.
My usual boot is Xandros which,defaults to win XP. supposed to be (used to be) Windows choice screen but goes to Vista choice screen then XP choice screen.
Just can't figure out how/where/what to delete.

From startup recovery...

;
;Warning: Boot.ini is used on Windows XP and earlier operating systems.
;Warning: Use BCDEDIT.exe to modify Windows Vista boot options.
;
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /FASTDETECT /NOEXECUTE=OPTIN /KERNEL=KERNEL1.EXE
c:\CMDCONS\BOOTSECT.DAT="Microsoft Windows Recovery Console" /CMDCONS

BCDEDIT.exe is out because I deleted Vista.
No big deal, Just takes longer boot.
Thanks Ed

See if this program (a version of BCDEDIT but simpler) is of any use? It is supposed to be able to get rid of the Vista bootup and return it to just XP.

How to install and use the Recovery Console in Windows XP

A Discussion About the Bootcfg Command and Its Uses

Have a look at the FixBoot command in the Recovery Console.

Otherwise I would look at hidden and System Files on C: a folder called Boot and a file called bootmgr.

I vote with linney:
. Boot with the XP CD and enter Recovery Console
. bootcfg /rebuild
. fixboot
. exit

VistaBootPRO was the answer. Simple and quick.
thanks so much.
Ed.
