German keyboard with CDE 1

We installed a new pSeries with AIX 5L and CDE.
We used the locale english, language english and a german
keyboard.

First the keyboard seemed to work fine, but now we
realized, that the AltGr-Keys (@, {[]}) are not
working.

Does anybody have an idea how I can activate
the usage of the AltGr-Keys?

Hello,
search on techsupport.service.ibm.com then search on keyboard mapping.

There has to be a file setup that has stuff about germen and once this file is setup then when you start CDE, and you do the keystroke the CDE is in Germen. All the character will be in Germen and it will take the input from keyboard and it will be germen.

There is a setting in smitty and change the keyboard to germen if you get that option.

I haved the same Problem with AIX 5.1 Baselevel.
The ML1 will help you.

Hello to all who helped!

Yesterday - late in the evening - I solved the riddle.
I had AIX5L with maintenance level 01.

After successfully installing ML 02 ist works fine.

Thank you for your tips.

AIX5L: Today we will reinstall another machine.
I will check out when the error can be seen:
baselevel and/or
ML 01 and/or
ML 02

We have pSeries and AIX in the house since 6 days
and found a bos-error (or X11??). I hope that this will be not a
bad omen. ( If yes, the usage of the new
machines will be a funny adventure.

I admit that my beloved iSeries knows OS-errors, too,
but you'll never find them within 6 days!

Hi,

this is a Bug described in the AIX 4.x to AIX 5L Migration Whitepaper. All you have to do is to install the X11.loc.de_DE Fileset and relog to make it work.
