Does anyone have any experience upgrading Gentran server for NT from version 2.1 to 3.1? I am looking for any problems, tips, things to look out for, etc.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

will you also be upgrading the database and OS? If so what will you be upgrading from and to? If not then I would suggest migrating to a new machine, and performing the upgrade and testing so as not to risk your produciton data. If you try to restore and archive it will have to be run thru the archive concerter utility supplied on the 3.1.1 installation disk. Tell me a little more about your migration path and will provide further details.

I was just planning to upgrade the Gentran software on the existing machine as is.

As long as the database you are migrating from is compatible with both versions you shouldn't have any problems. If you are using Oracle with 2.1.1, Oracle 8.06 is the only version that is compatible with 2.1.1 and 3.1.1

As matter of good practice, you should do a full system backup before you apply the upgrade incase there are any issues with the upgrade. David

We just did a migration from Gentran version 2.1.1 on Oracle 7.3 ... to now running on Gentran 3.2 SP1 on Oracle 9i. Let me know if you have any questions.
