i am trying to correct a y2k problem for a client. I did not write the software, and am not a foxpro programmer. I have the source code, and have made what i believe to be the appropriate changes, however when doing a build, i get a "can't find screen / menu generation program". Since the menu's and screens indicate that they were generated with genmenu and genscrn, i assume that these were the programs used, however i cannot find them on the computer. foxpro2.5 is there however. Am i missing something or do we need to get these programs

Just A Wild Guess but it soulds like the computer you are running the build on does not have all the FoxPro files loaded. Try reinstalling FoxPro with the complete option instead of the typical option.
David W. The customer had the foxpro program installed by the consultant who is no longer in business or even available. The customer doesn't appear to have the install disks, Is there any options available?

Find a developers copy of FoxPro 2.5 or a person with a copy to build it for you.
What State are you in?
David W. Grewe
Dave@internationalbid.net

the state of confusion!! Actually Northern Calif. Is there a retail version of foxpro 2.5 developers available? We are so rural it's a joke.

I just asked what State in case one of the other perople reading this thread might be close enough to help you. If you find a copy of 2.6 you can use it instead of 2.5.
Anyway, MicroSoft does not sell Ver2.5 but that does sell Ver2.6.
If ("You have a licensed copy of VFP")=.t.
MS will sell you a copy of 2.6 for the cost of a one license upgrade.
endif.
David W. If you have the source code you could modify the .mpr files and .spr files directly (not recommended) but if you are trying to build the application into a .app or .exe that won't help you. If you have the development version of Foxprow you might be able to run the application on it without a complete build -- In any event, you would need to be fairly knowledgeable in native foxpro language etc.

David's suggestion would be first choice --

CDavis.

Great stuff guys, but i need to find somebody or someplace that has a copy of foxpro 2.6 for sale. Cannot seem to find it. Any help greatly appreciated.

There is a place but they are a rip off in terms of price. I'll try to find it and post it. Would you rather buy a copy or contract out this job or both?
John Durbin

ICQ VFP ActiveList #73897253

I would rather buy a copy and let the customer have it. This will allow them to continue finding help without worry as to where it comes from.

Hey, can i just convert this to Visual Foxpro by running make file thru visual FoxPro?
Are there any gotya's in doing that? I know i can get visual foxpro

I run 2.6 code though VFP all the time. You will have to open every database exclusive and attach a code page. If you have complex repoorts and screens that the VFP converter can not handle you might have to spend time recoding but for simple applications no change required.
David W. i have genscrn.prg from 2.6 if you'll e-mail me i'll send it to you

lars@jmcanopies.com
