Genius Colorpage Vivid III V2 USB Scanner & XP

I am having problems installing a Genius (KYE) Colorpage Vivid III V2 USB Scanner on XP Pro. On startup, it runs Kyescan.exe, and as long as you are logged in as Administrator or have Admin rights, there is no problem. However, the problem crops up when you are logged in as Normal user with limited rights or Power user rights. After attempting to load Kyescan.exe, it displays an error message "Scanner not found". I tried to find a solution to this problem by searching Genius Kye drivers in their site and other drivers from other sites but to no avail. Maybe the solution lies in amending the registry entries. Any ideas are mostly welcome. Thanks in advance.

I am also having problems installing a Genius Colorpage Vivid 3XE on Windows 98 SE platform. Keep getting missing file kyescan.exe. Tried to download from the Genius website, but still doesn't work. Have you had any solutions with your problem? Would appreciate any assistance.

This is a known problem with this scanner. You can download the patch to correct this here:

http://210.80.75.67/ftp/scanner/Patch-V3.exe

This can also be downloaded from Genius's Driver Download page - do a page search on "scanner not found".

Hi ProSouthNZ

I tried this patch last month but to no avail, however I've solved the problem by setting the shortcut of kyescan.exe in "Windows 98" compatibility mode. This worked fine without problems.
