Generic Search

Does anyone have any ideas for the code behind this scenario?

I would like a text box in which one would type a search criteria and then next to it a combo with a list of fields to search on.

I guess I need to be more specific.
In the textbox someone would type in something like “Smith” then tab over and select the field within which to search. One would select the field via a combo box that would list field names from a table. The result would display in a listbox.

In this example it would display the full name of all the records that contain "smith" as the last name or is part of the last name.
