Hi. I'm using Pagemaker 6.5 on a PC and have Acrobat 8 installed. I'm trying to create a high resolution PDF to send to a printer. I've tried File > Export as PDF. Then it automatically runs Distiller (which I have set up to produce High Res PDF by default). However, when Distiller runs, it fails because it says that Helvetica is missing on my PC, so it can't embed it. Strange thing is the document only uses Arial and Garamond, both of which are present. Any ideas?

First of all, congrats on setting up PM6.5 to work with Distiller8. My instincts would be that it would be difficult to say the least. And if you're on WinXP SP2 will all the latest updates, then we're verging on walking on water!

Re the Helvetica error, it's well known.
See if this FAQ on AdobeForums helps, as it's for PM7 with Distiller 5 or 6:
1.10 - Helvetica or Times Roman Error When Creating PDF.

Thanks John! Seems like you are following me around. I think you helped me out with some PageMaker questions on the Adobe forums a few months ago.

Well, looks like I CAN walk on water. I am running PM6.5 and Distiller 8 on WinXP Pro SP2 with all the latest updates. And now, having followed your tip of forcing distiller to generate a PDF even if embedding fonts fails, I have PM6.5 and Distiller 8 working together.

Thanks for the star. Good to hear you're back in business.
