I know I'm missing somethig basic here. Customer wants to retrieve voicemail remotely off the General Delivery box. When she tries to access she gets the msg "this voicemail cannot be accessed from an outside location". What do I need to check off to make this work?
System is BCM50 R2

GD is mailbox 100 and most times it is associted to an extension like 221. When dialing in you need to enter mailbox 100 with your password after you've hit ** "100XXXX#" if you are entering 221 as a mailbox the system does not recognize it.

Thanks for the reply. I was aware that the GD VM is MB100 and the remote DTMF sequence is 100XXXX. I was wondering if there's a setting I need to check off (or on) to be able retreive msgs remotely and avoid the message described above.

Check if "enable mailbox restriction " is on.
This may prevent external activation of mailbox.

I cant remember where it is..
It may be in the General properties of call pilot or the COS you have allocated.

Then try and dial in to see if you can access the mailbox

Didn't think u could retrieve remotely on the GD Box. Thought it was only subscriber.

Yes you can, most people make the mistake of entering 221 as the mailbox, when it is actually 100 mb associtated to extension 221, now you could still have a mailbox for 221 without it being associated to 100

Make sure mailbox 100 is initialized internally first.

Go to Mailbox list
select gen-delevery

Click change
Untick -enable mailbox restriction

This will allow access from the outside
