Hello,

I have an Avaya Aura Messaging system, and I was wondering if there is any way to create a mailbox that can accept messages, but not be tied to a phone. I don't want a full blown auto attendant, I just need a box that isn't tied to a number on a phone, but can be called externally, play a message, then record a message.

Thanks!

it can be tied to a virtual station as this is the only way calls can get routed to it through the coverage path on incoming call handling treatment if it comes in on a pri or sip trunk

Hello,

Thanks for the response. Currently we have an Nortel Meridian CS1000 system working with an Avaya Aura Voicemail server. Are virtual stations something that exist in the CS1000 system? If so, could you point me to some documentation on how to set one up?

Thanks for your time!

I would just go in load 23 and build it as an acdn and point it to voicemail, should be good to go

On the CS1K you would use a phantom 500 station. It's an analog station just like a 500 station, only phantom so it doesn't need a physical TN and uses a virtual one. You likely already have some. If you go to LD 20 and do a LUVU type 500 it will print out your available 500 stations and at the end will most likely be the available phantom ones (labeled as such). You can use one of those for your new one. Built just like a regular 500 set, only in the phantom TN range. Your set will want FTR DCFW [allowed digits] [pilot # for AAM] so that all calls to the DN will be Direct Call Forward to voice mail.

@Wanebo I was just thinking that when you post came up, either way should work

The Phantom 500 gives you control for assigning the CLID to the DN. That can be very important to AAM depending upon your dial plan.

Hello,

Thanks to both of you for your answers. I tried the ACDN route which did not work, but using the phantom station did.

what prompt on the acdn did you define the voicemail number, just curious

The issue I was running into was that when I called a number setup through the acdn method, it would just go to the voicemail but not let me leave a message.

Thanks

Did it get to the voicemail and then prompt you for what number mailbox you wanted?

If so that would be the behavior associated with the AAM not receiving the correct number of digits to fit it's programmed dial plan. So if the ACD is sending a 3 digit DN and AAM uses a full 10 digit DID it will never know what mailbox the call should be steered to.

Hello,

Yes, that is exactly what it was doing.

The phantom station worked though, so I'm just using that.

Thanks
