How do I retrieve the messages in the general delivery mailbox? (Assuming that is where messages taken by the auto attendant go.) Callers receive the message "this mailbox is full and cannot receive any messages" as soon as the AA answers the phone. From what I have read on the internet it is possible that, because I am also the receptionist, these messages are delivered to my personal mailbox. But when I access my mailbox there are no messages there. The previous office manager went to lunch and never returned and I have no idea how to get to these messages. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Normally mailbox 100 (or 10 if you are 2 digit DN's) is associated with the reception set 221.
So instead somebody created mailbox 221 tied to 221, this means you have to check the messages every so often:
Feature 981, OTHER, 100XXXX, OK (XXXX = password for mailbox 100)

Sometimes the General Mailbox is tied behind a courtesy phone too, handy if that set is a T series with a red light.

If you cannot get in then you need to reset the password via Admin which you should call in a tech or read the big book.

You answered my question with the first 3 words of your reply "normally mailbox 100".

I have searched the internet for weeks now and have found instructions for everything under the sun, but nowhere did I find a clue as to what would be the general delivery DN (oh yes, I learned allllll about DN's and it took me awhile to figure out what an AA was).

I learned how to display the call pilot extension number on my phone (which is 242, so I thought maybe THAT was the general delivery DN...NOT!) I thought maybe it was 102 since that is how I log in as administrator...NOT!

Just so happens, I learned EXACTLY how to change mailbox passwords, so that was the first thing I did after reading your reply. Afterwards, I logged into the box with no problems!!! I CANNOT thank you enough for your help!!! You are a GENIUS IMO!!!
