My W2K Server does a core dump everytime I access any extended features regarding the video card. Such as movies or games but runs fine otherwise. I have a Geforce2 MX by Asus and it works fine under ME. Can someone Help me?

I am running a 7.1.7 Driver from Nvidia(I think that is the Detonator 3 version). Have tried almost every version of driver and have the same problem.

Need more info. Type of games, Motherboard chipset. Who made the GForce2 MX. Is Windows 2000 server updated? Service packs, online etc...

This info will help out greatly.

Detonator 3 drivers are version 6.3.1.0. Also are you running an Athlon or PIII. If its athlon is it duron or thunderbird. If its PIII is it Slot 1 or Socketed 370.

Here is the additional information. Thanks for helping with this.

It is a Socket 370. I have reverted back to Asus drivers 5.33. Although I have had the Detonator 6.31 installed. SP1 on Sever 2000 And the motherboard chipset is a VIA Hercules on a Asus CUVX 4 motherboard. The Video Card is an Asus V7100 pure.

There is an issue with the VIA chipsets and PIII Cache (Socket 370). I ran into this playing a few games with a Tyan Socketed 370 board. Go to VIAs website and down load their 4in1 update drivers for VIA chipsets. Also make sure that you update Windows to better support VIA chipsets. After I did these things I had no problems playing games.
Let me know if it does not work.

Thanks for the information. Have already updated the 4in1 VIA drivers, and still have same problem. Did the Windows 2000 Sp1. Is there any other updates that should be done to support the VIA chipset.

Thanks again for all your help!

Do the online Windows update and look for the updated VIA AGP drivers. If none of that works next I would try replacing the card. Then the main board. The issue is with one of those two.

W2K is alot like winNT. I have had a few problems with video drivers for NT. Make sure the card is compatible with W2K if it works fine with winMe and not W2K then it might be a driver issue. Go to the manufacter website and download a driver that says it is for 2000. WinNT and win2000 are very picky with hardware.

Have problems w/ my ASUS V7100 GeForce2, everytime I tried to play games it always stuck in the opening screen.
I have Abit BH6 MoBo w/ , Pentium II 350 and Windows 98
any ideas how to solve this prob??

Many Thanks

I have same problems like MAT2001. I have ABIT KT7A, AMD Thunderbird 1GHz and ASUS V7100 GeForce2MX. Windows 2K Advanced Server crushes with error in ANV_DIS.DLL. Under ME works fine.

Thanks for help.

I had the same problem, when I installed ASUS AGP-V7100 Deluxe Combo Driver from CD, my WIN2K Server hanged with core dump. I used driver ver. 5.33. Go to and download ASUS AGP-V7100 Series Driver for Windows 2000. This is ver. 6.18 but only core drivers. When I reinstalled this driver all it was OK.
