I installed a GeForce 2 MX400 and the system is recognizing it as a SiS 315 and installs the SiS 315 drivers. I'm comfused.
Why would a GeForce board utilize a SiS 315 processor?
If it is a GeForce board why whould it recognize it as a SiS 315?
I called the dealer and he said to install the drivers on the cd that came with the board (a burned, unmarked cd. I did this and now it says it's a Geforce board but SiSoftware still sees it as a SiS 315.
I went to the nvidia site and installed the latest drivers. It works ok but I'm still wondering if I have a falsified board, which is common here in Brazil.
The Geforce 2 MX 400 64MB card is boxed by a company named Sky Video with a address of I tried going to the web site but it doesn't exist. The lavels on the card say it's a GeForce 2 MX400 64MB and there is a nvidia logo sticker on a small chip about half an inch square next to the capacitors and processor. I haven't looked at the processor chip yet because the fan apears to be glued to it.
With the XP drivers set for SiS 315 the graphics were better but wouldn't run games like Medal of Honor.
System info:
Windows XP Pro w/ all upgrades
Soyo SY-K7V Dragon Plus MB; AMD Athlon XP 1900+ palamino processor; 256MB 2100 DDR RAM; GeForce 2 MX400 64MB vid card.
