Thanks lot,
You made my whole day easier cool and happy!

I posted this earlier in a different area, but thought you might find this useful:

There are (as far as I know) three different types of GBIC's, and here are some info about them:

1000BaseSX 850nm wavelength MM Fiber
1000BaseLX/LH 1300nm wavelength MM or SM Fiber
1000BaseZX 1500nm wavelength SM Fiber

1000BaseSX distance of 220 meters to 550 meters
1000BaseLX/LH distance of 550 meters to 10 kilometers
1000BaseZX distance of 70 kilometers to 100 kilometers
(distance varies with MM/SM, core size, and modal bandwidth)

1000BaseSX Cisco PN# WS-G5484
1000BaseLX/LH Cisco PN# WS-G5486
1000BaseZX Cisco PN# WS-G5487

There's also copper gigabit, but not sure the specs on it, but I think you have to have CAT5e or CAT6 cable and a distance up to 100 meters.

If anyone has any more GBIC info, I'd like to know, I'm working with a lot of gigabit stuff now (we're upgrading) and I'm learning new stuff.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,
It is amazing your way of catogarizing things for beter understanding!
