Hey all,

I have succesfully set up my Head office and branch office to use a gateway to gateway VPN setup.

I am able to from the ISA server in Head office to ping any machine in the branch office.

Also on the Branch office RRAS server I can ping any machine in the Head Office.

My question is this, should I be able to, from a desktop machine in the Head Office, ping a desktop machine in the branch office whilst this VPN gateway is UP and connected?

I have in the Head office the client machines pointing to the ISA server as the default gateway.

Cheers

Brad

The ISA server needs to be the default gateway in both offices in order for routing to work properly.

Desktops in the Branch office currently have the RRAS server as their default gateway.

Does this mean that for all machines in the branch office, who are on subnet 192.168.2.0/24 need to have set as their default gateway the IP address of the Head Office ISA server which is 192.168.0.1/24.

Will this affect basic internet services which are being shared out through the RRAS server?

Cheers

Brad

I have just encountered the same problems.

As long as the workstations on both sides know the route to and from each other, they will see each other.

In my situation, we have an ISA server that provides internet access for the head office LAN (ISA1), and another ISA server at head office(ISA2),that links to the branch office ISA Server using a VPN gateway.

To get the two LANs to see each other, I had to add a static route to ISA1 in RRAS to point all traffic destined for the branch office subnet, to be routed through to ISA2.

I hope this helps.
