Hi..
I am having a Test TMR, Gateway, and Endpoint on the same machine...
the problem is that some times the gateway hangs and is not able to display anything if u go thru the GUI it keeps on waiting for the information..
from CLI wgateway and wep ls hangs and are not able to display any message..
can some body tell me why the gateway is doing such erratic behaviour and also in this situation what is the way out.. as i have tried most of the things like stopping the Oserv services and then restarting it . restating the machine...
..
looking forward for ur response
Ashish Vashisht
vashishtashish@yahoo.com

What I would do is to go to command line and do the following commands:

ODADMIN SHUTDOWN DISP
ODADMIN START DISP

IF that doesn't work. TRy shutting down the TMR fully and then reboot after 2 minutes and then restart the Tivoli OSERV services. Take a look at your "LCFD.LOG" file for more pertininet gateway information. Make sure you've a bind to the proper ip address.

Once the gateway is restarted make sure that you "update resources" across the TMR and do a "Wchkdb -ux" to clean up any bad information.

Thanks guys it sure does help....

This is quite drastic action to need to take. There are a lot of cases where it is the quickest way of getting up and running.
There were a lot of issues with early 3.6.x versions with the gateway. These seem to have got better recently in my experience. If you keep seeing them then it may be worth coming back to and investigating whether you should push forward your version of Tivoli. (That said I recognise that this sort of decision is not an easy one because of the scale of environments etc).

Cheers,
Simon.
