I have a rather boggling problem here regarding G700 registration. The setup is that a media gateway will register with an S8300 mgc through ip (no octaplane modules). The thing is even though I could ping the mgc from the new media gateway it still won't register. I double checked all of the ip settings and such to no avail. I also reset the S8300 and the mgp's/p330 stacks with similar results. I then tried connecting the 2 G700 using a crossover cable as to eliminate any routing problems (I also changed the gateway's ip's again obviously) but it still won't register. I'm really running out of options right now. By the way, the G700 where the S8300 sits registers normally, so it's somewhat a connection/setting related problem which I can't figure out.

maybe a default route issue. both the mgp and stack have to have a "default" route. Avaya's interupation of a default route is 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 gateway

I don't know that I understood your problem correctly, try a change media gateway # and check to see the serial number is correct and matches the gateway that could keep it from registering.

You may want to do several things such as verify the Media Gateway firmware is compatible with the server (see Avaya firmware compatibility matrix).

Clear the MGC list and then reload it.

Verify the IP Settings. Are both units on the same VLAN?

Try re-running the config server option from the Maintenance Web Interface. Just keep hitting next, then let it write the IP's.

Also try reconfiguring the gateway via the console port.

The installation wizard with S8300 / G350 & 700 just doesn't work correctly.

try setting Encrypt Link to NO on the media gateway, and see if you have S8300 and gateway in the same network region.

I'm sorry guys for not replying soon enough, but thanks for all of your suggestions! I somehow stumbled on a solution by changing the "Encryption" field in the media-gateway form from "y" to "n"; the MG is now registered. However, I'm not really sure what it's for, I'm guessing it's for security purposes.

didn't get it either, but it worked,...

i think it was in release 2.

now everything registers fine from the first time.

What release are you talking about?
