Hi,

We have a problem that when our G700's do a reset the DCP handsets return to a US dial tone and the only fix is to refresh the terminal parameters or 'pop' the DCP card in the gateway.
Problem is experienced on all g700 gateways.

We have checked the Location-Parameters and they look to be configured ok with 'ALAW' and country code 10 (UK).

Anyone had this before?

Thanks,

Max

MaxEMEA,

this is a known (to us, at least) bug in the system, we've experienced it and still have no fix for it. tried to push avaya but they were not too helpful since they don't consider it a "critical" bug. the sad thing is that it affects all circuit packs in media gateway, not only dcp ones. we had this problem with announcements too, since virtual val board adheres to system companding as well. :(
it appears that upon reset a media gateway "forgets" about companding it had before reset or the system doesn't refresh it. the least harmful way to fix it that i've found is to issue 'change location-parameters' command, set companding to mu-law, confirm changes and immediately change it back.

mrjedi,

yes it's turned on by default. this system doesn't have multinational locations, though.

All, there is a fix for this issue and will be GA around the 8th Jan 2007.
Until then, the preferred work around is to reseat the DCP or any effected MM (Including v0).

MaxEMEA,

thank you for this information, i think we should wait for the patch.

Dwalin,

If you pushed Avaya they may let you have the G700 firmware that fixes the problem.

MaxEMEA,

so, it's a problem in g700 firmware? i thought it was in cm. could you please give me your case number in maestro? it would greatly help me.

Dwalin,

Yes, it's a G700 firmware issue. Basically what happens is that the ALAW companding message sporadically fails to make it to the MM when the gateway reboots.

Are you an avaya associate?

MaxEMEA, can you say the firmware number or case number in maestro system?

MaxEMEA,

well, i'd say in our case it failed to go through to media gateway after every reboot.

and no, i'm not an avaya associate, i work for a business partner. the problem is, local avaya support is not too helpful so i have to push them periodically. if you can tell me the firmware number or your case number it would help to get some results from avaya support, otherwise it's almost helpless. :(

dwalin, AsafS,

If you have a case with Avaya ask your case manager to look up:
QQ:111809 (Tier III will have to do this)or look at MR:g3v2060575.

There is no number for the G700 firmware yet as it has not yet passed Software Verification.
If you give me your case numbers I'll speak with your case managers.
